Uterine Fibroids
Fibroids are abnormal growths of the muscle wall of the womb or uterus. Uterine fibroids are the most common tumours of the female genital tract. You might hear them referred to as “fibroids” or by several other names, including leiomyoma, leiomyomata, myoma and fibromyoma.
Adenomyosis
Adenomyosis is a condition in which part of the endometrium, or the lining of the uterus, becomes implanted in the muscle wall. This results in small pockets of bleeding within the muscle at period time, resulting in painful periods that may also be heavy.
Pelvic Congestion Syndrome
Pelvic Congestion Syndrome is a term describing symptoms related to pelvic varicose veins. These dilated veins are similar to varicose veins in the legs but occur deep in the pelvis, often due to incompetent valves higher up particularly in the ovarian veins (especially the left).
Varicocele
A varicocele is collection of varicose veins occurring around the testicle, usually on the left side but can be right sided or present on both sides. It may present as a swelling or with dull aching pain or discomfort. It may be associated with male subfertility or infertility.
Vascular Disease
Vascular disease encompasses a whole array of conditions affecting the arteries and veins throughout the body. Scanning with ultrasound, CT or MRI can precisely diagnose vascular conditions and interventional radiology techniques including angioplasty and stenting can be used to treat them.
Prostate Disease
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the most common non-cancerous prostate condition which causes the gland to enlarge and leads to urinary symptoms such as frequency and having to get up at night to pass urine. Interventional radiologists can now offer prostate embolisation as a treatment option while Multiparametric MRI (Mp-MRI) scanning can provide detailed assessment of the prostate for cancerous change.
